The Booster Club Gives Out $2,000 in Scholarship Money to Qualifying Student Athletes Each Year!

2019-2020 ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

 

The Callisburg Athletic Booster Club is pleased to be able to administer and award scholarships to students that have participated in the Athletic program of Callisburg High School.

 

Graduating Senior Scholarships

Callisburg Athletic Booster Club Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors to help them in their continued educational journey. All Scholarships will be awarded to seniors at the Sports Banquet in May. The Athletic Booster Club will award four (4) $500.00 scholarships.

 

The application process shall commence in the spring semester of the graduating class with a deadline of April 30th for that graduating class. Applications are to be given to the Athletic Booster Club completed and signed by applicant.

 

Scholarships are awarded based on a point system established by the Callisburg Athletic Booster Club. We look to recognize a student who has consistently participated in athletics and excelled academically. We look for students that have worked hard to achieve success without necessarily being at the top of their class.

 

All Callisburg High School Senior Students are eligible to apply for any scholarship that they feel they meet the criteria. Eligibility criteria will be verified by Callisburg Athletic Booster Club.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION Guidelines:

Thank you for your interest in applying for a scholarship through Callisburg Athletic Booster Club. The following guidelines are provided to make application easier for you and for the Athletic Booster Club. Please read carefully and follow the guidelines itemized below.

 

Eligibility and Qualifications – The Applicant Must:

 

  • Be enrolled in Callisburg High School and be a Senior graduating in the Spring of 2020.

  • Plan to enroll in an institution of higher learning within 12 months from High School graduation. This includes college, university, trade school. If enrollment is not achieved, the scholarship will be forfeited.

  • Be in good standing with Callisburg ISD and the CHS Athletic Department.

  • Be enrolled in Athletics, as of April 30, 2020.

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5, as of April 30, 2020.

  • Submit completed application and essay to the Athletic Booster Club by 3:30pm, April 30, 2020.

SCHOLARSHIP POINTS SYSTEM*

 

Scholarships will be awarded to eligible applicants who have earned the top four (4) highest accumulated points.

 

High School Athletics Enrollment

Enrolled for:

4 years = 4 points

3 years = 3 points

2 years = 2 points

1 year = 1 point

 

High School Sport Participation

Participated in:

3 different sports = 3 points

2 different sports = 2 points

1 sport = 1 point

 

GPA, as of 4/30/2020

4.0 or higher = 5 points

3.9 to 3.0 = 3 points

2.9 to 2.5 = 1 point

 

Athletic Booster Club Volunteer Work:

Volunteer: Applicant’s Parents

(Eligible Volunteer Work includes both HS & MS Concession Stand and/or Spirit Trailer. Volunteer MUST sign the Sign-In book for shift to count)

5 shifts = 10 points

4 shifts = 8 points

3 shifts = 6 points

2 shifts = 4 points

1 shift = 2 points

 

Athletic Booster Club Volunteer Work:

Written Essay

5 POINTS:

Essay is to be typed, double-spaced, 12-pt font.

Essay question is listed on application.

Clearly addresses the response to the question and plans for future goals. Essay consists of 700 words +/- 20 words. Writing demonstrates few grammatical errors and reads with clarity.

3 POINTS:

For the most part addresses question asked and plans for future goals. Essay consists of 600 words +/- 20 words. Writing demonstrates few grammatical errors and reads with clarity.

1 POINT:

Is vague in addressing question asked and plans for future goals. Essay consists of 500 words +/- 20 words. Writing demonstrates grammatical errors that effect the clarity of the essay.

* Sports participation, GPA, eligibility criteria, and volunteer work will be verified by Callisburg Athletic Booster Club.

Essays will be evaluated by participants with no ties to the CHS, CABC, or applicants.
